This is a SAEF sanctioned event and will be run under the prevailing General Regulations & Rules SASJ, DSA, & FEI 2022
1. All SAEF, FEI, SASJ, DSA, ESA, MEC, and ground rules will apply. The Organizers reserve the right to cancel, combine or restrict classes should entries so warrant or according to prevailing circumstances.
2. SAEF, SASJ, DSA, Mataffin Equestrian Centre, nor their representatives shall be held responsible for any loss, damage, theft, injury or death sustained by horses, riders, appointed officials, the public or their property. All persons participating at this event do so at their own risk and will have no claim against the name of Mataffin Equestrian Centre, SASJ, MP Show Jumping, MP Dressage or the SAEF, including any officials, employees, members, affiliated bodies, show-holding bodies or sponsors, for any damage or loss of property or death or injury of persons suffered during or in connection with this event from any cause whatsoever. No minor may participate in this event without the permission of his/her guardian, who indemnifies all mentioned above against any such claims by such minors.
3. ALL MOUNTED RIDERS MUST WEAR HARD HATS. As per FEI Article 256. 1.4, it is compulsory for all persons to wear a properly fastened protective headgear with a three-point retention harness at all times when mounted. Competitors shall wear the correct dress for competitions.
4. Any requests for a specific riding order MUST be emailed to the SHB. It is the competitor’s responsibility to check whether their entries have been received.
5. The organizers reserve the right to restrict the number of entries accepted to a manageable number.
6. Any athlete not available to ride his/her test or class at the time allotted must contact the Show Organiser or Senior Judge to arrange for a new riding slot or they will be eliminated.
7. Incomplete entries and entries without proof of payment will be excluded & discarded
8. Entries will NOT be refunded if withdrawn after the closing date of entries!
9. 70% of entries will be refunded if the show organizer declares a show canceled only – not postponed.
10. Scratchings or canceling of entries prior to the closing date will be refunded with a 20% admin fee
11. Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the schedule as stated, the organizers reserve the right to change the program order in which the classes are ridden
12. Please take note that we will give only APPROXIMATE starting times for each class on the program. It is the rider’s responsibility to be on time.
13. Please note an immediate jump-off may be used at the discretion of the judge and will be announced.
14. The organizers reserve the right to fine, warn, suspend and/or eliminate offenders. SAEF Rules regarding excessive use of whips will be enforced.
15. The abuse of a horse will be strictly prohibited.
16. All stallions must have a yellow disc on both sides of the bridle or have a yellow ribbon in the tail. They must also have a yellow tag on their halter.
17. Stallions remain the responsibility of the owners & riders at all times and they are expected to have public liability against loss, injury or damage that might be caused by the stallion.
18. Equine Flu Vacs must be administered within 6 months + 21 days of the date of the event. No horse may compete in the 7 days after the vaccination. AHS VACCINATIONS MUST BE IN ORDER
19. All horses must have a valid SAEF passport available for inspection at any time.
20. Horses from outside the AHS Surveillance area must have valid AHS vaccinations (12 months) and a current Certificate of Movement.
21. The athlete undertakes NOT to bring any horse/pony to the event that has an infectious disease, whether notifiable or not or which the athlete could reasonably be expected to know has an infectious disease or may spread same.

23. When, at a competition (or prior to a team’s departure), the organizers or officials find that a horse/pony is unfit to compete and should a Veterinary Practitioner be called in to examine the said horse, the cost of this examination is to be borne by the owner or athlete.
24. It is the owner/athlete's responsibility to ensure your horse is supplied with enough grass, water, and feed for the duration of its stay.
25. Horses are stabled at Mataffin Equestrian Centre at their own risk. Health & Care is entirely the responsibility of the owner/athlete.
26. Horses grooms are welcome to stay on the property to ensure the care of own horses. Horsebox parking, Toilets, showers and wash up are available.
27. Owners/athletes take full responsibility for their own groom's wellbeing.
28. Horsebox parking is available and at owners' own risk.
29. Any owner or athlete who attempts to interfere with or influence the Judges, Stewards, or Officials, or who at any time uses any contemptuous or abusive language to any of the Judges, Stewards, or Officials may forfeit his/her rights to any prizes to which they might otherwise be entitled and may face other disciplinary action.
30. All protests must be addressed to the ground jury in writing accompanied by a deposit of R400 for provincial classes. Within the required time period. No verbal protest will be accepted. Download the protest form on discipline websites.
31. AS per Section 4.1.2 a, only competitors are permitted to school horses competing in Equitation Classes anywhere at the venue during the event.
32. Spreads of oxers are usually +20cm wider than the height of fences advertised.
33. Classes will be handicapped if there are 8 or fewer entries
34. Bearing, side, and running reins are prohibited in all competitions, including in the practice arena. No modification or extensions are allowed to the reins or stirrups (Section 2.3.7).
35. Dogs are NOT welcome at shows, but if they have to be there they MUST BE UNDER CONTROL AND ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES. Fines of R50 WILL be imposed on the owners if dogs are found loose and proceeds will be donated to the charity of choice of the name of Mataffin Equestrian Centre
36. Any Rider / Horse fall must be reported to the Show Office. Rider / Horse injury report is required to be passed before the athlete is allowed to ride again in the class / next class or event.
